Johannesburg (News Hub update sports news) Fakhr Zaman could not lead Pakistan
to victory in the second ODI against South Africa despite an innings of 193 runs, but with
these innings, he set a new world record. In the second ODI of the cricket series played in
South Africa, Pakistan set a target of 342 runs for victory.

In pursuit of the target, the Pakistani batting line failed and none of the batsmen could
face the South African bowlers except for Fakhr Zaman. The Pakistan cricket team had lost
7wickets for 205 runs and needed 137 more runs to win but at this stage, Fakhr completed
his century and batted brilliantly to revive the Pakistani team's hopes of victory.

Fakhr was run out for just 7 runs from the double century. Opening batsman Fakhr Zaman
played an innings of 193 off 155 balls with the help of 8 fours and 10 sixes and Pakistan lost
the match by 17 runs. Fakhr did not lead the Pakistani team to victory but set a new world
record in the 50-year history of ODI cricket.

Fakhr Zaman became the highest innings batsman in the history of ODI cricket. Earlier,
Australia's Shane Watson had the record for most innings in pursuit of a target, having
scored 185 against Bangladesh in 2011. Former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni
scored 183runs against Sri Lanka in 2005 and remained unbeaten while Indian captain
Virat Kohli scored 183 runs against Pakistan in 2012. Earlier, no Pakistani player had
played more than150 runs in an innings.
