Mumbai:(News Hub Update latest ICC World Cup News. November 17, 2023) Former Australian batsman and former Pakistan batting coach Matthew Hayden has expressed his sadness after hearing Pakistan captain Babar Azam's announcement of his resignation from the captaincy of all formats.

Former Pakistan batting coach Matthew Hayden said that captain Babar Azam is a world-class player. Matthew Hayden said, "I'm often surprised by the reaction I get when I talk about Pakistan because it seems like the whole environment is changing emotionally." He further said, "Whoever replaces captain Babar Azam, should go with Muhammad Rizwan.

For the success of the team, the captain and vice-captain should be with these two players. Mathew Hayden said that Pakistan faced challenges, especially in this World Cup 2023 as they went without Naseem. He had concerns about the world-class left-arm pacer and both he and Shaheen were closely watched during the Asia Cup where he looked a little nervous.

Matthew Hayden said that Fakhar Zaman was out of form in this tournament and by the time his form returned, it was too late for the Pakistan team.

Moreover, their spinners Shadab and Nawaz failed to provide a challenging spell for the opposition raising concerns about their position in the team.

Matthew Hayden said "I have always felt with Pakistan that it has nothing to do with the leadership.

It is only the game that is structured to foster a high-performance culture that I feel is the most challenging factor for the Pakistan cricket team.

Matthew Hayden said that Pakistan jumped the gun by removing Babar Azam as captain because he had recognized his leadership skills and performance as captain.
