According to a statement issued by the media wing of the Prime Minister's Office on Tuesday, a meeting was held between Pakistan's Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar Haq Kakar and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The meeting took place on the occasion of the Belt and Road Forum held in China. On his arrival for the meeting, the Russian President welcomed the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Anwar Haq Kakar.
The two leaders emphasized strengthening ties to promote regional cooperation.
In the meeting of these leaders, issues of mutual interest and regional and international issues were discussed. During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed the bilateral cooperation with a special focus on defense, trade, investment, and energy and expressed their satisfaction with Pakistan-Russia relations. They also discussed the prospects of enhancing Eurasian connectivity, and Pakistan's role in regional integration through rail, road, and energy corridors.
The Pakistani Prime Minister stressed the need to enhance regional integration for the economic development of the entire region and reiterated Pakistan's commitment to strengthen bilateral cooperation with Russia in the areas of investment, energy, and counter-terrorism. The two leaders also discussed regional and global developments, including the situation in the Middle East.
Talking on this occasion, Pakistan's Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar Haq Kakar said that Pakistan and Russia have the same stand for counter-terrorism, bilateral cooperation is also important for peace and stability in Afghanistan.
