October 22, 2023) Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan Anwar Haq Kakar and President of Russia Vladimir Putin have emphasized further promoting cooperation between the two countries in various fields including defense and trade. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia is taking steps for global food security and wants to expand cooperation with Pakistan in various fields.

   According to a statement issued by the media wing of the Prime Minister's Office on Tuesday, a meeting was held between Pakistan's Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar Haq Kakar and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The meeting took place on the occasion of the Belt and Road Forum held in China. On his arrival for the meeting, the Russian President welcomed the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Anwar Haq Kakar.

   The two leaders emphasized strengthening ties to promote regional cooperation. In the meeting of these leaders, issues of mutual interest and regional and international issues were discussed. During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed the bilateral cooperation with a special focus on defense, trade, investment, and energy and expressed their satisfaction with Pakistan-Russia relations. They also discussed the prospects of enhancing Eurasian connectivity, and Pakistan's role in regional integration through rail, road, and energy corridors.

   The Pakistani Prime Minister stressed the need to enhance regional integration for the economic development of the entire region and reiterated Pakistan's commitment to strengthen bilateral cooperation with Russia in the areas of investment, energy, and counter-terrorism. The two leaders also discussed regional and global developments, including the situation in the Middle East.

   Talking on this occasion, Pakistan's Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar Haq Kakar said that Pakistan and Russia have the same stand for counter-terrorism, bilateral cooperation is also important for peace and stability in Afghanistan. Pakistan's Caretaker Prime Minister said that Pakistan and Russia have common thoughts on many regional and global issues, There have been positive discussions in various fields including counter-terrorism.

   The caretaker prime minister of Pakistan further said that as a senator he has visited Russia, both countries have close cultural and moral values. He said that Pakistan is facing a shortage of energy, this country with a population of 24 crores is a big energy market, and would welcome Russian investors in the energy sector.

   Russian President Vladimir Putin said that there is a need to work together for the economic development of the region. The Russian President says that Russia is taking measures for food security at the global level, Russia has planned to supply free grains to the poorest African countries. The President of Russia said that they are trying to promote cooperation and relations with Pakistan in various fields including the economy.

   It should be noted that Pakistan and Russia are celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
