On behalf of Quetta Gladiators, Martin Guptill scored 117 runs off 67 balls with the help of 12 fours and 5 sixes. Shoaib Malik scored 71 runs on behalf of the Karachi Kings.
Karachi (Newshub Update Latest Cricket PSL8 News 19 February 2023) Quetta Gladiators defeated Karachi Kings by 6 runs in the sixth match of PSL 8. 4 wickets of Quetta Gladiators fell on the score of 32 only, Jason Roy and Abdulwahid Bengalzai scored zero, Umar Akmal scored 4 and captain Sarfraz Ahmed returned to the pavilion after scoring 5 runs. Martin Guptill and Iftikhar Ahmed put on a partnership of 69 runs and put Quetta Gladiators in a better position.
Iftikhar Ahmed was caught out trying to hit Mohammad Amir for a six, he hit 3 fours in an inning of 32 runs. Quetta Gladiators' sixth out batsman was Muhammad Nawaz, who managed just 3 runs.
In the 19th over of the match, Martin Guptill scored 30 runs against Karachi Kings and completed his century. Martin Guptill of Quetta Gladiators scored the first century of PSL 8 and he was dismissed for 117 runs off the last ball.
Karachi Kings fast bowler Andrew Tye was hit by Martin Guptill for three fours and three sixes. The Kiwi batsman completed his century off 62 balls which included 4 sixes and 11 fours. Quetta Gladiators scored 168 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted overs. On behalf of Karachi Kings, Aamir Yameen and captain Imad Wasim dismissed three players each.
Karachi Kings didn't get off to a good start either, openers Sharjeel Khan and Haider Ali returned to the pavilion without scoring. James Vance scored 22, Matthew Wade scored 15 and captain Imad Wasim scored 5. Shoaib Malik scored 70 not out but could not lead his team to victory. On behalf of Quetta Gladiators, Muhammad Hasnain managed to get two wickets while Muhammad Nawaz, Naseem Shah, and Qais Ahmed managed to get one wicket each.
Captain Sarfaraz Ahmed and captain Imad Wasim came to the field for the toss of the match, Imad won the toss and invited Sarfraz to bat. Karachi Kings captain Imad Wasim said that we are bowling first because we will get a chance to understand the pitch. Regarding the defeat in the first two matches, captain Imad Wasim said that we have played good cricket so far but are still looking for the right combination.
On the other hand, Quetta Gladiators captain Sarfraz Ahmed said that we also wanted to bowl first because it is difficult to do things in Karachi. We will give a target between 170 to 180. This is the third match of Karachi Kings while this is the second match of Quetta Gladiators in PSL 8. Karachi Kings were defeated by Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad United in the first two matches while Multan Sultans defeated Quetta Gladiators.
