PSL 8: Peshawar Zalmi defeated Karachi Kings | Newshub

   Peshawar Zalmi defeated Karachi Kings by 2 runs after a thrilling match, Imad Wasim's brilliant innings of 80 runs, Tom Koehler's Cade Moore, and Babar Azam's fifties.

Karachi (Newshub Update Latest Cricket PSL8 News 15 February 2023) Peshawar Zalmi defeated Karachi Kings by 2 runs in the second match of Pakistan Super League 8. Karachi Kings won the toss and field first against Peshawar Zalmi. Peshawar Zalmi's openers started the innings well by hitting Muhammad Amir for four in the first over, but in the second over, bowler Mir Hamza got Muhammad Haris going.

   After Haris was not declared LBW by the field umpire, Karachi Kings took a review and this decision proved to be absolutely correct when Saeem Ayub one ball later was run out and returned to the pavilion. Babar Azam was supported by Tom Koehler Cadmore who hit Imad Wasim for three sixes in a single over to complete the team's half-century. Cadmore continued his aggressive batting streak to complete his half-century.

   Babar Azam and Cadmore put on a brilliant partnership of 139 runs for the third wicket and it ended when Babar Azam gave away Imran Tahir trying to play a big shot. Babar Azam scored 67 runs off 46 balls. Bhanuka Rajapaksa also took a brilliant catch of Ben Cutting in an attempt to hit a six. Jimmy Neesham supported Cadmore and took the score to 197.

   Cadmore was caught out for a total of 92 runs. However, the Peshawar Zalmi team scored 199 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Ben Cutting, Mir Hamza, Andrew Tye, and Imran Tahir took one wicket each for Karachi Kings. Karachi Kings had to suffer early in the innings and Sharjeel Khan became the wicket of Wahab Riaz in the first over. Matthew Wade from Australia scored 23 runs off 15 balls with the help of 3 fours and a six but Jimmy Neesham walked him to give his team victory.

   Qasim Akram became Needham's second wicket after scoring 7 runs, while Haider Ali was out in the over, Karachi Kings had lost four opening batsmen for just 46 runs. After the fall of four wickets, captain Imad Wasim came to support Shoaib Malik and both of them formed an excellent partnership by playing well. Imad Wasim completed his half-century in just 30 balls.

   Skipper Imad and Shoaib Malik extended their partnership further by building a partnership of over 100 runs and Shoaib Malik completed his half-century. The two players put on a partnership of 131 runs and took their team close to victory, at one stage Karachi Kings needed 24 runs from two overs and their chances of victory were clear but Wahab Riaz bowled Shoaib Malik. By getting out, he turned the match in favor of his team.

   In the last over, Karachi Kings needed 16 runs to win, but despite Khurram Shehzad's no ball, the Karachi Kings team could not achieve the target. Captain Imad Wasim hit a six on the last ball of the match, however, Peshawar Zalmi won the game by two runs.

   Karachi Kings team consists of captain Imad Wasim, Sharjeel Khan, Shoaib Malik, Ben Cutting, Haider Ali, Qasim Akram, Imran Tahir, Matthew Wade, Andrew Tye, Muhammad Amir, Mir Hamza.
   
   The Peshawar Zalmi team has captain Babar. Azam, Mohammad Haris, Shakib Al Hasan, Hanuka Rajapaksa, Saeem Ayub, Tom Kohlerkidmore, Jimmy Nesham, Wahab Riaz, Khurram Shehzad, Salman Irshad, Sufian Muqim are included.
