Davos (Newshub Update Latest News 20 January 2023) Two-thirds of the new wealth created worldwide is in the hands of only one percent of the super-rich, and their wealth is increasing by $2.7 billion every day.
This was stated in a report issued by Oxfam, a group of charities working for poverty all over the world, on the occasion of the World Economic Forum.
According to the Oxfam report, the total amount of wealth generated since 2020 was recorded at 420 trillion dollars, of which 63 percent, or 260 trillion dollars, went to the hands of the world's richest people, who are only one percent of the global population, while the remaining 160 trillion 37% of the dollar goes to 99% of the world's population.
Currently, excluding the richest 10% of the world, 90% of the world's population earns 1.7 million dollars, compared to one dollar for each of the world's richest 1%.
A sharp rise in food and fuel prices last year also boosted the wealth of the richest.
