Sri Lanka defeated India by 16 runs in the second match of the T20I series to level the series at 1-1.
Pune (Newshub Update Latest News 07 January 2023) The Sri Lankan cricket team defeated the Indian cricket team by 16 runs in the second match of the T20 series and leveled the series one to one. In the match played at the Pune Cricket Stadium, India won the toss and invited the visiting team Sri Lanka to bat first. Sri Lanka scored 206 runs for the loss of 6 wickets while playing first.
Sri Lankan captain Dasan Shanaka played an important role in setting the target by scoring fifty, while among other players, Patham Nissanka scored 33, Charith Asalanka scored 37 and Kaushal Mendes played innings of 52 runs. Patel took 2 and Imran Malik took 3 wickets.
In pursuit of the target, the batsmen of the Indian team suffered from difficulties and half of the Indian team returned to the pavilion at 65 runs in the first 10 overs, Surya Kumar Yadav and Akshar Patel tried to bring the team closer to victory by playing good innings.
Axar Patel scored 65 runs off 31 balls and Surya Kumar Yadav scored 51 runs off 36 balls. In the final moments, the Sri Lankan bowlers dismissed both the Indian batsmen, while in the last over, Shavum Mavi's innings of 26 runs were also broken. Dilshan Madhushanka, Dasan Shanaka, and Kasan Rajitha took two wickets each for Sri Lanka.
