Sri Lanka (News Hub update news) The government is facing protests over the burqa, with Muslims say they have been discriminated against. "We will take national security forward," the government said after the cabinet meeting.

A government spokesman said: "The ban on burqas will be discussed within the cabinet."

A suicide bombing in Sri Lanka in April 2019 killed 279 people. The security minister said last week that he had signed a document approving the cabinet banning Muslim women from covering their faces completely in the name of "national security".
