First ODI, New Zealand set Pakistan a target of 256 runs to win | News Hub

   Karachi (Newshub Update latest news 09 January 2023) In the first international match of the ODI series, New Zealand set Pakistan a target of 256 runs to win. Fast bowler Naseem Shah led the way to the pavilion by bowling Devon Conway on the last ball of the first over. Opener Finn Allen scored 29 runs and was caught by Mohammad Wasim. ODI debut leg spinner Osama Mir bowled New Zealand captain Kane Williamson for 26 runs and took his first career wicket.

   Muhammad Nawaz bowled Daryl Mitchell for 36 runs while Tom Latham scored 42 runs and was caught out by Osama Mir. In the match being played at National Cricket Stadium Arena Karachi, Pakistan won the toss and decided to field against New Zealand.

   Leg-spinner Osama Mir made his ODI debut in the Pakistan cricket team, and head coach Saqlain Mushtaq presented an ODI cap to Osama Mir.

   Middle-order batsman Haris Sohail has returned to the cricket team. Shaun Masood, who was made vice-captain, was not included in the Pakistan team for the first ODI against New Zealand. The head coach and the selection committee decided not to give Shaun Masood the first ODI match. Earlier, the Test series played between the two teams New Zealand and Pakistan was drawn.

   In the Pakistan team, captain Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Imamul Haq, wicket-keeper Muhammad Rizwan, Muhammad Nawaz, Haris Sohail, Salman Agha, Usama Mir, Muhammad Wasim, Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah.

   The New Zealand team includes captain Kane Williamson, wicketkeeper Tom Latham, Finn Allen, Dion Conway, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, Michael Bracewell, Mitchell Santner, Henry Shipley, Tim Southee, and Lockie Ferguson.
