Dubai (News Hub update news) Weekends take place in the United Arab Emirates on Fridays
and Saturdays. However, in view of international trade, the weekend was changed to Friday and
Saturday fifteen years ago. For the past few days, a piece of news has been circulating on social
media quoting the UAE's official news agency WAM that the UAE government has decided to
change the weekend.

Now, like most countries around the world, the weekend will be Saturday and Sunday. This
news has also gone viral. Some users say it would not be appropriate to change the weekend
because of the Friday holiday and the sanctity of the day. If the government has made such
a decision, it should be changed as people can spend Friday in peace because of the holiday.

However, some said the decision would be the right one to fully engage in international
economic activity. The debate is over, but the UAE government has reacted to the news that
went viral on social media by saying that no decision has been made at the official level to
change the weekend. The news circulating on social media is completely false and baseless.

Such false news should not be believed or shared. On the other hand, the Emirates News
Agency Wam has also denied that the news that went viral on social media in the name of their
agency is fake. The state-run news agency Wam did not post any news regarding the weekend.
Mohammad Jalal al-Raisi, executive director of WAM, said the government had not released
any news about the weekend through WAM.

This news is completely fake. This news should not be shared because so far millions of people
have been misled by this false news. One thing to note here is that until 2006 the weekend was
Friday and Thursday, but the weekend was changed to Friday and Saturday in order to harmonize
business hours with the Western world.

So that foreign businessmen can continue their business activities with the international market.
Emirati officials have warned that action will be taken against those who spread false news on
social media. A person involved in this crime is sentenced to at least one year in prison and a fine.
