The first match of the two-test series between Pakistan and New Zealand is being played at the National Stadium Karachi. Pakistan team captain Babar Azam has become the joint-highest international fifty-plus scorer in a year and he has also become the Pakistani cricketer who has scored the most international runs in a year.

   Babar Azam scored his 25th fifty-plus in 2022 in the Karachi Test match, after which Pakistani captain Babar Azam joined Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara. Sangakkara scored 25 fifty-plus in 2014 and Pakistan captain Babar Azam this year. Scored 7 international centuries and 18 fifties.

   Earlier, Pakistani captain Babar Azam won the title of Pakistani cricketer who scored the most international runs in a year.

   Pakistan captain Babar Azam scored his 13th run in the Karachi Test and broke the record of former Pakistani cricketer Muhammad Yousuf. Muhammad Yusuf scored 2435 international runs in 2006, while captain Babar Azam has scored 679 runs in 735 ODIs and more than 1000 runs in Tests this year.
