   Doha (Newshub Update Latest Football News 29 December 2022) Argentine footballer Lionel Messi became the first player to win the Golden Ball award twice in the FIFA World Cup. Argentina won the World Cup for the third time by defeating France in the final of the 2022 Football World Cup in Qatar. The match played at the stadium in Lusail, Qatar was tied 2-2 in the regular time and 3-3 in extra time. Argentina won 2-4 on penalty kicks.

   After the match, the best performers of the tournament were announced, in which Argentina's Fernandes was given the Young Player Award, while France's Kylian Mbappe was awarded the Golden Boot Award. Argentina's Marandains won the Golden Glove award for the best goalkeeper while Argentina's Lionel Messi, who played his last football World Cup, was awarded the Golden Ball award.


    Earlier, Lionel Messi was awarded the Golden Ball l in the 2014 FIFA Football World Cup. Italy's Paolo Rossi won the FIFA World Cup Golden Ball in 1982. Argentina's Diego Maradona in 1986, Italy's Salvatore in 1990, Brazil's Romario in 1994, Brazil's Ronaldo in 1998, Germany's goalkeeper Oliver Kahn in 2002, France's Zinedine Zidane in 2006, Uruguay's Diego Forlan in 2010, Lionel Messi in 2014 and Luka Modric from Croatia in 2018 were able to win this award.
