   Batting continues against Sri Lanka in the eighth match of the ICC World Cup in pursuit of the Pakistani cricket team's target.

   Hyderabad (News Hub Update latest Sports news. October 10, 2023) In pursuit of Sri Lanka's 345 runs, the Pakistani cricket team scored 228 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 35 overs.

   In the match being played at the Rajiv Gandhi Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad, the Pakistani batsmen made a disappointing start in pursuit of the target against Sri Lanka. Pakistan's first wicket was 16 and second wicket opener Imamul Haq was out for 12 and captain Babar Azam was out for 10 runs.

   Muhammad Rizwan and Abdullah Shafiq supported the team after two wickets fell for 37 runs. A partnership of 178 runs was established between the two for the third wicket. Later, Abdullah Shafiq was dismissed after scoring 115 runs. In the match being played at the Rajiv Gandhi Cricket Stadium, Sri Lanka batted first and scored 344 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. Patham Nissanka 51, Sudira Samravakarma 108, and Kaushal Mendis 122 were the standouts.

   Sri Lanka's first wicket against Pakistan fell for 5 runs in the second over, as opener Kaushal Perera returned to the pavilion for zero.

   Patham Nissanka and Kaushal Perera put on a partnership of 102 runs for the second wicket, but Nissanka got out after scoring 51 runs. Kaushal Mendes was dismissed after playing an aggressive innings of 122 runs with the help of 6 sixes and 14 fours.

   Among the other players, Dhananjaya de Silva was 25, Dasan Shanaka was 12, and Dinoth Velalge 10, while Charith Asalinka scored one run and Mathisha Pathirana remained not out by scoring one run.

   Hassan Ali proved to be a successful bowler by taking 4 wickets for Pakistan, Haris Rauf took 2 wickets, and Shaheen Afridi, Muhammad Nawaz, and Shadab Khan took one wicket each. 

   Earlier, Sri Lankan captain Dasan Shanaka won the toss and decided to bat first. The Sri Lankan captain said that he is determined to get the first win in the event by increasing the pressure on setting a big target against Pakistan.

   On this occasion, Pakistani team captain Babar Azam said that they wanted to maintain the winning streak with success in the match.

   Both the teams have made one change, with Pakistan replacing Fakhar Zaman with Abdullah Shafiq in the playing XI while Sri Lanka replaced Kisan Rajitha with Mahesh Thiekshana.

   Earlier, the two teams faced each other 7 times in the international competitions of the World Cup, where Pakistan has a heavy burden, the Green Shirts have established an advantage over the Islanders by 0-7.
