Imran Tahir & Sultans thwarted Peshawar Zalmi's chase,
winning by 47 runs
Abu Dhabi (News Hub update sports cricket news) Multan team became the 'Sultan' of PSL for
the first time. Chasing the target of 207 runs, Kamran Akmal started the innings confidently and
Kamran Akmal scored 36 runs in the first 5 overs. Zazai hit a six to Blessing Mazarbani and caught
the next ball on the point.
On the first ball of the next over, Imran Khan scattered Kamran Akmal's wickets to give his team
its second victory. The duo of Shoaib Malik and Jonathan Wells are present on the wicket but both
faced difficulties in playing according to the required run rate. Wales, who came from Australia, lost
their wicket after failing to take two runs in the 10th over and Zalmai suffered a third loss.
The Sultans soon got Shoaib Malik's valuable wicket when he was caught behind the wickets but
the third umpire declared Imran Khan the bowler's no bal when he went out of the crease on Monday.
Shoaib Malik teamed up with Roman Powell for a 66-run partnership for the fourth wicket. In the
15th over, Blessing Mazrabani moved Powell who scored 23 runs.
In the next over, Zalmai suffered a major blow when Shoaib Malik gave away 48 runs to Sohail.
Sharfin Rutherford tried to show dangerous intentions by hitting two sixes but Imran Tahir took
three wickets in the same over including Rutherford to take his team to the brink of victory. Imran
also ensured the victory of the Sultans by running in the same over.
Imran Khan also washed his hands and gave a ninth victory to his team by dismissing Emad Butt.
He scored 159 runs and Multan Sultans won the match by 47 runs and became the champions of the
league for the first time.
Earlier in the final match of the league to be played in Abu Dhabi, Zalmi
won the toss and invited Multan Sultans to bat.
Multan Sultans veteran opener Mohammad Rizwan and former captain Shan Masood completed
the team's half-century in the 7th over to take the score to 68. Mohammad Imran could not understand
the slow ball and was bowled for 37 runs.
Peshawar Zalmai got a chance to take the wicket of Sohaib
in the next over but Hazratullah Zazai standing in the extra cover could not take an easy catch, only
after two balls Mohammad Rizwan caught Kamran Akmal behind the wickets, he bowled
30 balls. Make 30 runs.
After the openers were out, Multan Sultans' Sohaib Maqsood and Riley Russo batted aggressively
and started increasing the score rapidly and completed a half-century partnership off just 22 balls.
Sohaib Maqsood completed his half-century off 27 balls while maintaining excellent form, while
Rousseau completed his fifties off just 20 balls.
The 98-run partnership ended in the 19th over of the innings when Riley Russo caught Irfan
standing on the short third man in an attempt to play a reverse sweep. Samin Gul also made Charles
walk on the next ball.
In the last over of the innings, Sultans scored 21 runs thanks to two
sixes by Khushdal Shah and scored 206 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the stipulated overs.
Peshawar Zalmi has made a change in their squad for the match and replaced Ameed Asif with
Samin Gul. While Multan Sultans did not make any change in the team for the match. It may be
recalled that Peshawar Zalmi has once again become the champion of Pakistan Super League while
Multan Stans is playing the final for the first time.
